First steps are crucial. Sameer Athavale and his business partner Vinod Samant took the first step and started small office at Milap Nagar in Dombivli. Waiting for helplessly for 7 hours power cut, they decided to do something about it.
Their idea is to collectively make effort to save power by cutting down electricity usage, the duration of daily loadshedding would go down considerably. They consulted energy experts and started
"Mission Energy Conservation".
Now after couple of months they have about 300 strong volunteers spread across not only Dombivli but across other neighbouring cities.
In an interview with reporter of Indian Express, Sameer said, “We realised that we had a commitment to society. So we started off with the most critical issue facing us — power shortage. We decided to use youngsters, fresh graduates and students on vacation.”
The mission involves door to door compaign usrging locals on ways to cut electric bills. This methods seems more promising and practical than the stone pelting incident happened in Dombivli. Aim is to reduce power losses.
