Load shedding : Solution
Wednesday, 07 March 2007

There seem to be no immediate solution for the load shedding and even the authorities have turned helpless and turned to public.

After public ire over load shedding few weeks back, the local division of MSEDCL have come up with self help plan to avoid laod shedding. In a ciruclar issued by the authority requests have been made to curb power usage after sunset to avoid load shedding. According to the report, Dombivli consumes about 64 MW of electricity daily against supply of 37 MW. Thus if consumption could be reduced by over 28% load shedding could be avoided. This has to happen during 7 to 8.30 pm when the demand is highest.

The authority is trying hard even with local corporators to gain public support and pulicising the plan in respective wards.

Riots at Baji Prabhu chowk seemed irrational and pre planned, as per MSEDCL. The company also need to prevent power losses and detect power thefts. Similar raids were carried out 4-5 months back and penalty of about 45 lakh was imposed.

Its difficult to get rid of the load shedding, but public support would help minimize the problem. Rightly said, God helps those who help thyselves.
