Some events may look routine, but some make their mark in history. Here, do find such social, cultural and political events in the history of urban Dombivli. Establishments started flourishing after the Independence, and this was the time when Dombivli started expanding.

Before 1951, Dombivli was just another village. People from Mumbai who wanted some space of their own, shifted to this less crowded place. New people coming to Mumbai chose Dombivli as home. It was this time when localities like Tilak Nagar, Ram nagar, Pandurang wadi, Gokhalewadi emerged.

In 1952, V. Savarkar held large public meeting in the ground in front of Babushet chawl in Dombivli East. This was the time when seeds of Hindutva were sown in soils of Dombivli.

1953 saw growth in localities of Dombivli East. Dombivli West was sparsely populated, with just Jai Hind Colony. 1954 was an important year for Dombivli. There was a rapid increase in number of literary experts and other professionals in Dombivli. Marathi Sahitya Samelan was held in grounds of S.V. Joshi school during this year. Famous writer, V.S. Khandekar was president of this Samelan. Working class started increasing and so the train commuters from Dombivli. In 1957, first telephone exchange was started in Ramwadi. Mr. Krishnarao Dhuloop was elected for VidhanSabha during the same year. Senapati Bapat and Acharya Atre came to Dombivli for Sanyukt Maharashtra movement during that period.

Dombivli Nagarpalika was established in 1958 headed by Mr. Bapusaheb Pendse. On cultural front, Dombivli started changing, Public Ganesh Ustav festival was celebrated in Ram Nagar and Tilak nagar that year. S.H. Jondhale high school was started in 1960. Same year, Brahman Sabha was established. Key persons from Dombivli took important positions of Government and non-government institutions in Maharashtra. Society had started building up, Lions international was established in 1962. Industry was growing in Dombivli. Kalyan-Amberanath Manufacturers association (KAMA) was started.
