Regularisation of illegal construction in Dombivli:
There are about 78000 illegal structures under
Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation out of which aobut 60% are
illegal. In bid to legalise these construction, a directive has been
issued by Urban development department to the Municipal authorities.
According to this any illegal construction can be regularised here by
paying penaly or regularisation fee of Rs.500 per square foot. The
directive comes to effect immediately and will regularise illegal
structures built before Jan 1, 2004. Thus a flat owner could have to
pay a regularisation fee which could be 50% of the current market cost
of the construction prevailing in the Dombivli.
This fee collected would form a development fund which would be used
for development of Kalyan Dombivli. Politicians are complaining about
Democratic Front trying to gain advantage in BJP ShivSena dominated
KDMC. The entire directie is said to be based on Kakodkar committee
report. This 94 page report was prepared in 1988!
