Dombivli Bird Race 2012 is being organized by NYASS Trust and Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation in January 2012.
What is bird race?
Dombivli Bird race is an event which involves identifying as many bird species as possible during the day of 22nd Jan, in Dombivli and surrounding areas. All interested bird and nature lovers are welcome to participate in it.
Dombivli has a wide diversity of birds. Even in crowded parts of the city, birds like sunbirds, orioles, barbets can be seen. A wide range of migratory birds is also seen at Dombivli creek. But due to habitat destruction, this bird life is on the verge of becoming endangered or worse, locally extinct.
Creating awareness is the first step towards conservation. Though it is a race just do not participate with the intention to win the race but to enjoy the nature. Participate to admire aesthetic value of nature and birds.
Dombvli Bird Race will be held on 22nd January 2012.
There will be an* orientation workshop* for the participants on *21st January 2012* where organizers and experts will give you guidelines on identification and data entry in logbook.
Who can participate?
Students, photographers, teachers, house wives, working class, shopkeepers, senior citizens, other professionals, experts etc. can participate in Bird Race irrespective of age, occupations, educational qualification.
The only criterion for the participation in Bird Race is, you should have interest in birds.
