In 1974, a Dombivlikar touched Lok Sabha, Mr. Jagannath Patil was elected member of Lok Sabha. People from Dombivli took new roles, new responsibilities, new challenges. In this year after emergency, a big gathering was held in Dombivli with famous writer P.L. Deshpande as chariperson. Jeshtha Nagrik Sangh was established this year. In 1977, Govindrao Talvalkar, noted journalist born and brought up in Dombivli was elected Chief editor at Maharashtra Times. 1978 saw the rise in broadcast media, Television rapidly started reaching homes of Dombivli. 1979, Pendharkar college shifted to new and current location in MIDC. Degree courses were introduced.

1980 was important year, Nagar palika got its own building and offices, Ambedkar Sabhagrah was established. BJP party was formed that year, and Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee inaugrated the statue of Swami Vivekanand in the Nagar Palika that year. Famous Guruvayur Temple was open in 1981. Astitvav organisation for mentally retarted children was also formed this year. Firefighting department came into existence. And very important was the overfly bridge connecting Dombivli East with west was inaugrated by Shri Swami Shankaracharya the same year, which paved way for growth and development of Dombivli west. Same year, about 6 students came in tenth merit list for the first time in Dombivli showing progress of Dombivli on Education front. Extracirricular should be equally important as education, with this view Dombivli Gymkhana was established this year.
